Guilsborough 3[rd] Before Advent 2010
The moral of this story is then clear. KBO as Churchill said: Keep bashing on: never give up and keep using the talents that God has given us.
Only in one sense do our lives end in nothingness in the sense that I have already mentioned.
As I learned recently from an astrophysicist, we all came from the dust of the Big Bang and will return to dust, just as God said to Adam and Eve.
For Christians, however, we know that our souls go marching on and, in preparation for that journey, we have the Bible to guide us, the prayer book to help us talk to God and prepare. "Mount, mount, my soul thy place is up on high whilst my base flesh sinks downward here to die."
So - at the risk of straining the analogy - the object of hacking round the golf course of life is, I submit, that at the end of the round as we enter the clubhouse we too will hear the words:
"Well done thou good and faithful servant enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." And we shall know that we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

O Lord God, when Thou givest to Thy servants to endeavour any great matter, grant us also to know that it is not the beginning, but the continuing of the same unto the end, until it be thoroughly finished, which yieldeth the true glory."
May, 1587.
